LESSON - Every student selects a lesson book appropriate for age and skill level. I use a lending library in the studio for many books thus saving families the cost of purchasing books. The selections include:
Music for Little Mozarts, Bastien Invitation to Music, Succeeding at the Piano, ALfreds Basic Piano Library, Bastien Piano Basics, John W Schaum Piano Course, Wunderkeys Pop Staff Piano, Hal Leonard Piano for Teens, Alfred Piano for Busy Teens and many more.
SCALES - Scales and chords are first introduced from printouts. Students then progress to FJH First Scales Book, Scale Skills by Keith Snell, James Bastien Scales, Chords and Arpeggios. Students are encouraged to meet the standards for ABRSM scale grade levels.
LEAD SHEET - Many students request training to participate in church bands. Lead sheets are used to prepare them for this task.
ADULTS - Alfred Adult all in One, E Z Play today plus many other options are used for adult students.
Repertoire - All students develop a binder filled with sheet music selections: classical, patriotic, folk, hymn, praise and selections from the NFMC Bulletin.
